A reflectrion of my work experience, exhibitions and art education for the purpose of admissions review from Leslie University for acceptance into the MFA in visual arts with the Boston Instutute of Art.

EXPERIENCE:

For 20 years I have taught drawing classes for children and adults in the adult education programs in Utah; in Orem, Provo, Spainsh Fork, and Pleasant Grove school districts, with the Utah Valley State College adult education class's and Provo Art and Frame and their gallery/studio association.

I have written and illustrated 3 children's books which I am submitting but have not yet been published.

I have written and illustrated 5 art workbooks on art as a healing experience, using various art techinuques. I have not had these published as of yet.

I am a free lanch illustrator for children's magazines and just beginning to submit both written stories and illustrations.

My watercolor painting have been privately purchased by numerous clients throughout the USA.

Kids on the move commissioned me to paint a wall mural, in Orem Utah; as well as murals for private homes.

Exhibitions I have participate in within the last three years:

1. Payson Utah at the Peteetneet Art Gallery: titled "REMEMBER ME ZAMBIA" included orphan childrn's art that I brought back from Zambia Africa, after teaching art to orphans; along with my African Paintings. Watercolor for my art, markers for children's art

2. Zambia, Africa at teh Bwafanco Community School for Orphans titles "REMEMBER ME ZAMBIA" consisting of children's art and my African Paintings

3. Provo Art and Frame Gallery of ARt" Titled "Drawing with Children" The art Work of the children I taught and my paintings. Each class taught had a private showing exhibiting our art work.

4. The Alpine Gallery of Art in Alpine, Utah, titled "A Color of Hope" focusing on art for the purpose of healing, displaying pieces I have painted.

5. Utah Valley State College hallmark Gallery, Utah, titled African Wildlife and Zambian Citizens of Zambia Africa, watercolor and rice paper overlay

RELEVANT EXPERIENCES:

Vice President of Utah Valley Art Guild; Springville Utah; Organized the children's section of the guild and taught painting classes to children through the guild association and in assoication with Nola Sullivan, guild advisor

Traveled to Zambia Africa as a student study abroad through the art dept. at Brigham Young University, received 6 credits in art for teaching art to orphans at the Bwafano Community school in Lusaka, Zambia, and various art projects associated with the trip including paintings I did of Zambians, paintings while on a Safari of African Animals, specified teacher prepared lessons. Placed in this experience through "Mothers Without Borders" a non profit organization sponsoring orphans in Africa, brouoght the childrens art to USA and have sold with my art shows to raise money for their school.

Professionally, I worked as a licensed Recreation Therapist, using art as therapy and for recreation purposes; for women who were anorexic, for depressed clients at behavior medical hospital; for the elderly and persons with disabilities. As the Program Director in a Psychiatric Clinic in ORem, Utah, I set up a room with a healing art show for the therapist to use with clients and also had an art gift showp where I sold my own art.
